Aggie Habitat for Humanity
Aggie Habitat for Humanity is the Texas A&M Campus Chapter of Habitat for Humanity International. We work closely with Bryan/College Station Habitat for Humanity.
Aggie Habitat focuses on building homes, fundraising to sponsor a family's home, advocating for affordable housing, and educating the Texas A&M campus and community Habitat for Humanity's mission. We work to offer families who live in substandard housing the opportunity to own a home. After a family is selected, they must complete at least 500 hours of 'sweat-equity' by volunteering through Habitat for Humanity. Then, they are sold a simple, affordable home with a 30-year no-interest loan for essentially the cost of the materials. This model allows us to give these families a hand up rather than a hand out. The homes are built using volunteer labor (that means you, yes you!)
Every year we work to raise $50,000 through grants, dues, and two major fundraising events. This enables us to partner with a deserving family and build a home with them.
Our two flagship fundraisers are Pumpkin Patch in the Fall, and Shack-a-Thon in the Spring. You can learn more about these on the 'Fundraisers' page.
